Green and Clean – Samitivej Hospital

The company recognizes the importance of conducting business responsibly towards society and the environment both internally and externally. This has been incorporated into the company's vision and included as part of the organization's sustainability development plan (Sustainability Strategy).
With the vision of Samitivej committed to being a leader in green organizations, implementing social initiatives through green technology (Green Initiatives) to become a green organization (Green Enterprise). This includes fostering a mindset within the organization, internal management (Operation), and reaching out to external communities (Community), based on the belief that green business can create jobs, generate value, reduce carbon emissions, and minimize environmental destruction.
Activities that Samitivej has already implemented are as follows:
1. Samitivej label-free drinking water, smaller caps, 100% recyclable

Samitivej drinking water has been redesigned with a clear bottle, label-free, with a smaller cap, which can reduce plastic and lower the carbon footprint.
Separating PET bottles can be done by pouring out the water, separating the cap, squeezing or stepping on the bottle to make it smaller, to reduce waste space and dispose of it in the 'recycling bin'.
2. Use a biodegradable straw.
The straw is made from plants, feels like plastic, and is 100% biodegradable, environmentally friendly.
3. Install drinking water dispenser
Samitivej has installed a safe and standard drinking water service point at Foodhous, 1st floor, Building B, R.P.P. Fort, in front of Café Amazon
4. Reduce plastic wrapping of food containers inside the room
Samitivej reduces the use of plastic wrapping for food containers in patient rooms by placing them in cleaned, safe boxes, reducing plastic wrap paper by up to 20,000 pieces per month.
5. Campaign to reduce the receipt of Health Report Books
by viewing them in the Well by Samitivej application to reduce paper usage and also to view results at any time.
Patients can view their health report results in the application. Well by Samitivej Since 2020 onwards, a total of 237,600 sheets of paper have been reduced, which accounts for a reduction in carbon footprint (Carbon Footprint) helping to reduce global warming by 873 kilograms.
6. Transition from paper to electronic questionnaires
Originally, Samitivej used paper-based patient satisfaction surveys. From 2020 to 2022, we switched to scanning QR Codes to reduce paper usage. This has resulted in a reduction of 267,600 sheets of paper (89,200 sheets per year), which helps reduce the carbon footprint (Carbon Footprint) and contributes to lowering global warming by 983 kilograms.
7. Collaborate with various shops in the hospital to promote reducing the distribution of plastic bags and plastic straws, or bringing your own cup for beverages.
Additionally, we believe that the best change starts with ourselves. Therefore, we try to instill these practices starting with the organization members by encouraging employees to participate.
